The North Charleston Aquatic Center played host to the 5A State Girls Swim Championships on Saturday evening and our Lady Vikings were nothing less than spectacular. Runner up Vikings had a great day as a team, winning all 3 relays and setting several meet records throughout the session.
The day started with a host of parents, friends, faculty members, coaches and athletic teams and even a police escort by Spartanburg City officers to send off the team as the left Spartanburg bound for Charleston. The Vikings wasted no time in getting off to a resounding start by winning the 1st event – the 200 Medley Relay. This was just the beginning of things to come as the team went on to win 9 of the 11 events for the evening including 6 individual races, all 3 relays and set 5 new state records.
It was a dominating performance with only 6 Viking swimmers competing.
Based on team points, our Vikings repeated as the 5A State Runner-up despite all their wins as Wando just outpointed our team with their 20+ swimmers.
Winners were:
1. Annika McEnroe – 200 IM (new state record); Anna Buchert finished 4th and Caroline Byers 9th.
2. Annika McEnroe – 100 Fly (new state record); Sophie Kannee finished 3rd.
3. Kirsti McEnroe – 200 Freestyle (new state record); Teagan McEnroe finished 3rd.
4. Kirsti McEnroe – 100 Freestyle; Teagan McEnroe finished 6th.
5. Anna Buchert – 500 Freestyle
6. Sophie Kannee – 100 Back

8. 200 Freestyle Relay – (Sophie, Caroline, Anna & Teagan)
